Recently, I was very fortunate to have a phone conversation with Mickey during which he shared some of this understanding with me.*
Basically, we are always in the midst of these larger rhythms, and it is good practice to tune into, to come into harmony with them. This process of harmonizing is called entrainment.
Since my conversation with Mickey, I've made drumming part of my morning routine, and my view of music, rhythm, and the cosmos has been expanded.
I put together the following video to share some of the conversation--with my DNA, with the cosmos, with Mickey. The first section of drumming was filmed just before the interview, and the second part just afterwards.
May it be enjoyed, may you all be enlightened by Mickey's wisdom, and may you all come into deep rhythm with the cosmos, again and again.
